Procrastination Island

How it started:  “When X is/are finished, I’ll work on art.” X equals:

dishes
laundry
housecleaning
errands
this episode or the next of Better Call Saul  (our current tv binge)
I’m caught up

How it’s going: I’m now on a direct flight to Procrastination Island for a 2-month stay; and I may not return!

Why do I do this?  Maybe because some of the perks of my all-inclusive destination include:

feeling like most of my work isn’t worthy enough to share
not being in the mood to feel judged today
wanting to start a new project but have no idea what to start
being unable to focus

These perks may be different for others heading to the same place – fear of failing or not having enough time.

For years I, like every other artist, have fought all out wars with procrastination. But I have now found helpful motivators to navigate away from this place and get back into the studio and back to the business of making art again.

But first…
