#TBT – One Room Project (2010s)

Taking on a photography project is challenging (in a good way, of course!).  You must decide on a subject or theme; what gear you’re going to use; location; time, etc. A simple-looking shot may have required a lot of technical work, or a complicated shot could be the result of a happy accident.  In the end, what matters most is that you are pleased with the final product.

The range of subjects and locations is endless.  But what if you limited yourself to just one subject in one place – one room in your own home?  You may not view your living space as a photography subject.  You eat in it, live in it.  You may or may not keep it tidy. You see it every day and most objects or features of your home blend into the woodwork or become part of the scenery. Not many may stop for a moment and look for artistic visions within their own homes.  Why not give it a shot?

Several years ago, a “one room” theme was presented as a month-long photography challenge in an online art forum I used to participate in.  These images were the results from my own living room taken with my Panasonic point & shoot camera. We have long since renovated our home and most of the items pictured are long-gone, and the items we didn’t rehome are packed away.

Take a look around your home, and see what results you can produce.
