Weekly 5: March 28th 2025

Weekly 5 is a round-up the past week’s creative news, discoveries, and happenings in my world!

Best thing that happened in my world this week:

Last week the calendar deemed it was Spring, but it’s not official in our house until Hogla has emerged. She was late coming out of hibernation this year; but, alas, she is alive and well. For anyone new, she has been my longest-tenured sidekick for nearly 38 years! She’s the coolest pet rock ever, and also senior level studio management.  What she says, goes. Welcome to 2025, sassy old gal!

Wenceslaus Hollar, “Two Butterflies, a Wasp, and a Moth” (1646), etching on laid paper, plate: 3 3/16 x 4 3/4 inches; sheet: 3 1/4 x 4 13/16 inches

Artist discovery:  Mark Yeates

I love surface, textures and layers and I have with a strong leaning toward printmaking, collage, painting and drawing techniques. Often I will combine some or all of these in mixed media which offers so much freedom to play and discover.
