Last February, I first wrote about Documenting Creativity. While poking around and reviewing my site, I realized it’s been nearly a year since I have posted updates regarding the gel print journal I had started to document my work. Last week I mentioned I didn’t make as much art as I had hoped over the last year, however, I did produce a number of small pieces for gifts, as well as a 3-piece commission. I still spent time in the studio pulling prints for practice and for use in the art that did get done.
Aside from the completed art projects, most of the prints I pulled throughout 2025 were experimental or failed prints – mostly the latter! Despite that, I have continued to save a piece from each one to add to the journal. I spent the better part of yesterday evening adding new pieces to the pages. As of this post, I have 76 snippets of art filling 19 pages.
Page 2 of the journal (shown above) was posted last year. Page 3 includes clippings from pet portraits I painted for 2 of my cousins living in Washington state, as well as for reversible mini paintings doubling as reversible Christmas ornaments I made for colleagues this past holiday season, as well as one for an artist ornament exchange I have been participating in for the last 8 years.
After flipping through the pages filled in so far, I’m pleasantly surprised to find I have spent more time creating than I give myself credit for. I look forward to more experimental printing, as well as some projects I already have lined up. I can’t wait to see how much more I fill this journal over the course of the year ahead!
