Blink, blink!
Month two of 2026 has come and gone just like that. This month brought good food, great company, and a couple of movie marathons we didn’t plan until we hit the ‘play’ button. Warmer weather, as always begins this month and I am never ready for it!
Best things that happened in my world this month:
We had a belated birthday celebration with a long time friend, Thai food was greatly enjoyed!
Then of course, Valentine’s Day. Rather than a fancy – not to mention, overly expensive – dinner out, our tradition for the last 8 years has been celebrating by watching Michael Bolton’s Big Sexy Valentine’s Day Special on Netflix while dining on mac & cheese paired with merlot.
WHAT?? Yes, you read that correctly.
It started back in early 2017. One evening, dinner was a smorgasbord of leftovers; one dish among them being mac & cheese. We also had a half bottle of merlot that was on the verge of becoming corked. It was then we accidentally discovered that the mac & cheese chased by a sip of merlot was amazing (at least to us!). Days later, the Michael Bolton special popped up in our Netflix feed. We knew by the title that cheesiness would ensue, and we were NOT disappointed! For Valentine’s Day 2017 we decided to whip up a batch of fresh mac, pop open a new bottle of merlot and partake of the meal with our first viewing. From there, our annual Valentine’s Day celebration was dubbed “Mac, Mike & Merlot.” A few years after the inaugural celebration, we added steak into the mix and the event has since been renamed “Meat, Mac, Mike & Merlot.”
This year Alex leveled up our celebration by procuring a heart-shaped steak! Now THAT is Valentine’s Day done right!
On the Art Front
This month I played with textures using objects and packing materials. I also signed up to get on the early bird wait list for next month’s Collage Makers Summit.
I am looking forward to a new set of projects and learning about new artists I may not already know of!
